Though we are confident our innovative, pure hot water technology will leave the outside of your windows sparkling and streak free, at Preen + Clean we understand it can be extremely frustrating if the inside of your windows doesn’t match to our sparkly high standards. Children’s sticky hands, furry pets, direct sunlight and even house spiders can all impact the look of your windows from the inside.
You can leave the outside to us – but here’s some of our top tips on how to keep your windows clean inside:
- Always start by removing dust and dirt
It’s really important to make sure you wipe down the windows before you use any cleaning products – this will ensure the end result doesn’t end up worse than before you started. Use a soft brush, long-handled duster or even your vacuum cleaners brush end to gently clean down the windows. Make sure you pay extra attention to the corners or any gaps where spiders may be hiding
2. Prepare your tools before you begin
Time is of the essence once you’ve started your internal window clean, so ensure you can clean and wipe quickly to avoid frustrating streaks and marks. With this in mind, make sure you prepare your workstation – gather together your brush, cleaning spray, cloth and anything else you need before you begin to make the job easier.
3. Don’t make the job harder than it needs to be – microfibre all the way!
Though some people use newspaper, and some go for kitchen roll, we would always suggest using a microfiber cloth to give you the best finish for your windows. As well as being super absorbent and washable, they also really do leave the glass shine and streak free – without having to do a huge arm workout at the same time. If you do decide to go down the paper towel route, make sure you use a good, strong brand that will not leave lint behind and ruin the job.
4. Be generous with your chosen window cleaning spray
Our innovative pure hot water technology removes the minerals found in tap water that can cause streaks and residue found on the outside of your windows, however we know that for the inside of your windows – people often need to rely on a window cleaner spray to help remove dirt. We suggest investing well in your cleaner! Try not to go for the cheapest option just because Mrs Hinch has mentioned she is a fan! Invest well and spray generously – internal windows take quite a lot of use on a day-to-day basis so are likely to build up a significant amount of dirt over time so they will require some help to get them clean.
5. Try to split the job up – don’t take the whole house on at once!
Our final tip would be to split the job up – don’t try and combat all your windows in one sitting. It can feel like a daunting job, especially if you only get round to it a couple of times a year, so make sure you set aside adequate time, and maybe take on downstairs one day, and upstairs the next. Think of the calories you will be burning, while transforming your view at the same time!
